Weight of it All

He stumbles.
His toe catches a stone.
Hands and knees battered, splintered wood shoves under his skin.
His eyes search the crowd.
How silently He suffers, under the weight of it all.

Agonizing step after step He takes.
As every name, every face, every soul, flashes through His brain.
The minutes that pass, so slow, so sure, reveal His intent,
The love for you and for I, for us all.

As He was led to His death, He was becoming our salvation.
While the nails were driven deep into his hands,
He silently bled and suffered, under the weight of our sin.

He calls us to follow every agonizing step,
Should we dare to be like Him,
To heed His call?
We must resolve to respond,
To take up our cross,
Just as He bore the weight of it all.
