Poor Offering

Has your spirit ever felt the immensity of its poverty and has the incredible weight of weakness ever been on your shoulders? Jesus says that you are blessed and yours is the kingdom of God! (Luke 6:20)

There was a poor widow who came into the temple and gave her offering up - two tiny copper coins. To others it did not look like a lot, but Jesus was watching her and knew that in fact, this was everything she had! Jesus’ heart must have swelled with great love for this woman and at such an offering! To give out of her immense poverty was far richer of value than the many others who were giving out of their abundance. (Luke 21:1-4)

It still confounds me why, but God loves it when we are weak. He is a Strong God, full of great strength, quite the opposite of us, weaklings. When we acknowledge our weakness to Him, He loves it, because it is then that He has an opportunity to show off His immense power through us, His broken vessels.

God, allow me to realize what You want from me – my everything. Just like the widow, who gave everything she had, I want to give also out of my poverty! The poorer I am the better, for then I have a greater opportunity of sacrifice!

If you are feeling weak today, realize not only are you incredibly blessed, but you have an incredible chance to give your weak frail self to God, who will greatly cherish your poor offering.
