A Season of Trusting

While in California, I heard a pastor speak of the character of God, in a way that is so obvious but somehow I had overlooked! In every parable Jesus paints the character of God as generous beyond measure. In every senerio, Jesus amazes us with His great generosity, giving abundantly out of His great wealth.
In the parable of the "Prodigal Son", the father welcomes his son home, and throws him a huge feast (not to mention the ring and rich clothing, he also gives his son) (Luke 16). In the feeding of the 5000 there is how many baskets left over (John 6)? When Jesus tells the disciples to throw the fishing net back into the water, do they not pull up enough fish to almost sink their fishing vessel (Luke 5)? In the parable of the 'Laborers in the Vineyard' the Master gives to the ones who worked but a few hours, as much as the ones who had been there all day (Matthew 20). And doesn't Jesus miraculous provide more than enough wonderful tasting wine for the wedding (John 2)?
All these examples and more show us a generous Father, who loves to give good gifts to His children. So why don't we trust Him to provide for our needs? Just recently I found myself peering into someone else's life asking the question, "Can't they see it,  God is bigger than the problem they face, He will provide what they need, no doubt." Only to quickly realize that I have been the one dwelling in doubt. And it is like that in life, extremely easy to trust God in relation to others, but when you are the one in the tough situation, it is not so simple to trust anymore.
A season for trusting God. Aren't we in one right now? Aren't we always in one?  However this time, I want to lean into the steadfast love of the Lord (that never fails) and trust Him to be who He says He is. An abundantly good Father who lavishes us with good things!
