Answered Prayers

My reading material lately has included George Muller's Autobiography. Can I just say, I love biographies! I probably should have been a history major. There is something about other people's lives that just fascinates me. Maybe it is because there is simply so much to learn from another's life journey of mistakes and successes. I particularly love autobiographies, because they usually entail journal entries. I started writing in a journal when I was in 8th grade, and haven't stopped yet. I have often dreamed of my journals being discovered, after I'm dead and gone, and being published :) How cool would that be!!? They would have to change names of course, just so no one is embarrassed, but my name could remain the same, because I would be long gone :)

But back to George Muller's life. What has captured my attention, as I've read His journal entries, is the way he relied upon God for absolutely everything. And he exhorts you, his reader, to pray and pray and pray, and to lay all your requests before God, so that you can in turn see God answer those prayers, and have your faith emboldened too!

As I was reading this book, I was struck with the simply thought of God as our Good Father. I began to think back to when I lived under the roof of my parents. They took care of the bills. They took care of the food. They took care of basically my every need. And I was able to go about my days not anxious about where my next meal would come from, or what clothes I would have to wear. So I lived in a peace that my needs were looked out for, and I was able to pour my energy into other things. To be able to look to God in this very same way is what life is all about. To give it to God, when you are in need for something like water or food. To give it up to a Good Father, and know that He will never forsake you. He is faithful to those who trust in His Name. He's faithful to provide our every need, like a Good Father.

So I decided to write out really specific prayer requests and I didn't have to wait but a week, for the first request to be answered, then yesterday another huge prayer was answered in the most amazing and impossible way! Wow! Everyone has stories about how God is a Good Father, but wow, He is so good! What sweet relief to know that He is watching over us, and doesn't miss a single thing.
