Crossroads Cafe

"Thus says the LORD: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls." - Jeremiah 6:16

Today Brady and I went over to Panajachel to find a place called "Crossroads Cafe", recommended to us by Brooklin and Becca. They frequented this place while they lived in Pana. We were anxious to find this small hole-in-wall coffee shop. We finally stumbled upon it, only with the help and direction from a few kind Guatemalans. As we walked into the "Crossroads Cafe", we were greeted by a South African lady. After we ordered our drinks, she offered us a free drink, if only we would please rate the featured coffee roast. We immediately loved the place! An intern named Andrew was working behind the counter, and gave us coffee refills. We found out he was from Walla Walla, Washington (Yay! A neighbor!), and had only been in Pana for a few days. Then through the door, walked the famous Mike - a devout believer, and New York native. Mike and his wife (the South African) have been running this coffee shop in Pana for more than 20 years. And what a ministry and legacy they have created in this spot! Mike found out that Brady was Brooklin Nash's brother and instantly we had a lot to talk about! The next time we visited the shop, Mike gave us a tour of what happens behind the scenes. He led us into the back room, bursting through the roof, with huge burlap sacks full of coffee beans. He gave us a demo of how the roasting process happens. It is such a blessing to sit at the counter and hear Mike recount his years of hitchhiking through Europe, America, and Africa and to hear how God has been so faithful in his life, time and time again. May God continue to immensely bless that little Crossroads Cafe and use it for His glory!
